Working Hard For The Best Results - Kate Cox

Noosa’s real estate scene has long had a reputation as a thriving market, but behind the prestigious status is a band of sales agents helping buyers, sellers and investors boost the local market.

The agents are seldom regonised as the media favours reports on the sometimes astronomical sales price or quirky features of a home, but the annual Real Estate Business awards seek to highlight the hard work of those driving the industry.

This year, a range of Noosa agents have been nominated for awards including much-loved Richardson and Wrench Noosa agent Kate Cox who is vying for the top prize as the regional sales agent of the year.

Kate has been the go-to sales agent for homes from a $300,000 price tag to a $3 million price tag since she stepped into the local market a decade ago. For Kate, the nomination as a finalist in the REB awards is recognition of much hard work.

When I heard the news I felt quite humble and even had a little tear,” she said. “It’s nice to know your hard work gets recognised.”

Kate represents a range of buyers, known to easily swing between prestigious international investors to young families looking for their first home - a move Kate said is a deliberate way to stay relevant and in the market.

“I purposely directed my career towards the investor and owner-occupier and different price ranges,” Kate said. “This way no matter how the market is going I’ll have something to sell. Also the client can start with a small investment property then after a few years decide to move here permanently, and who wouldn’t?”

While Kate now boasts a prolific and successful real estate career, she started in radio sales and hospitality. For Kate, it’s important others know it’s never too late to change career or try something new.

“When looking back on my career, the one thing that does stand out is I got married at Picture Point Terraces 10-years-ago and never dreamt I would be in real estate at the time,” she said. “A few years later I’m standing on the balcony of an apartment in Picture Point Terraces waiting for a buyer to arrive, its shows you can change your life and you are never too old.”

What drives Kate is her passion to unite buyers with their dream home, taking deep satisfaction from a happy client.

“There have been many special moments throughout my career, especially when you know your buyers just love the property they have bought and you run into them in the street and they reiterate how much they love it,” she said.

And the key to success? Simply loving what you do.

“I love it. I really do. They say you should work in an industry you love and you’ll never feel like you are doing a day’s work again and I honestly feel like this,” Kate said.

“I’ve had three careers in my life, 10 years in hospitality and 10 years in radio sales and although I had an absolute blast in those careers and met lifelong friends, real estate for me just fits and what I’ll be doing for a very long time to come if the clients allow me.

“Real estate for me is my life now and I am very grateful for what it has bought to my husband Tony and I. I’m also very grateful for everyone I have met and the opportunity to live our life here in fabulous Noosa.”

I enjoyed working with Jennifer in selling our Noosa Little Cove holiday apartment. I found her to have a very good local knowledge of the area with years of experience in Noosa real estate. It was nice to have a “friend” look after our sale and financial interest at heart.
